Can Anyone Unify Northern Ireland Over Brexit?

On top of all the problems that brexit causes the entire UK, the situation is amplified in Northern Ireland due to the way it has created a UK against EU narrative amongst a population that is evenly split on each side, at least amongst the most aggressive voices.

Hmmm. I've watched the whole video now. Solution is relatively simple. Why can't Great Britain simply become part of Ireland. We could even call you the province of "Borisness". Problem solved. All the British remain united under the tutelage of Ireland

You'd also be back in the EU

Only the DUP could be handed caviar on a gold platter and manage to turn it into a turd sandwich

So Charles and Camilla were in Northern Ireland last week. Camilla rocked up to a Northern Irish Unionist event in a Dublin registered limo. It was the British ambassador to Ireland's car sent from Dublin. The Unionists were not impressed. 🤣

Just want to point out how much more stable and peaceful Ireland is when under Irish governance than as a British colony.

Strikes me that it's only the Irish government that is trying to calm this situation

Just look at the symbolism, Michele O'Neil as first minister of Northern Ireland, Its been a long time since an O'Neil was the chieftain in Ulster

Best solution re unification, it’s when not if, and DUP are sliding into irrelevance, but are doing anything to delay and frustrate that.

What a mess. Politics is messy at the best of times but when you've got the current bunch of self-serving incompetents it becomes something else.

I hope Ireland takes NI off UK’s hands and marks the disintegration of the U.K.

You are right. Unionists need a true leader to arise. Obviously, compromises much be realised by real grown ups. The nationist demographic means that Loyalists can't continue with the old supremecy doctrines. The ROI and NI curiously must become closer in order for the Union to remain. Yet time and time again the DUP MPs never miss a chance to insult the Irish in Parliament.
An as for that brat who threatened us with violence, the police should sort him out.

If Northern Ireland is a powderkeg, then Bozo and brexit is surely the match lighting the fuse

The DUP in many areas rely on the Farming and Fishing communities. The protocol allows both to avoid the shit the same industries are facing in GB. If the Oz deal goes through it will see this underpinned and not undermined

Nope, DUP want the GFA torn up and they don't want a customs border, and they won't move on either, so the only way for this to go forward is for the UK to keep both and deal with the minority of NI uninosts who are going to start trouble, it is that simple and the DUP and their voters are on borrowed time at this point.

The only way It could have been unified is if it had never been split into two in the first place .

Its always the Tory party making things worse for both sides of Ireland though isn't it ?

To be honest i am still confused about NI. Still stuck at the part where a Unionist is someone who is against an union betweek NI and Ireland. Also that the DUP is a unionist party that voted for Brexit and against the "May deal". Looks pretty bonkers from the outside.

''No'' would be the simple answer. Poots will never work with Sinn Fein if he can avoid it.

See, weird thing is here, that Vetinari would have solved this with the same procedure but one small difference. After the paramilitaries had said violence would be an option, Vetinari would point out he knows where they live, how are their children and grandchildren (don't they grow up so fast?) are doing in school, and isn't it nice their wives are having a nice time with their friends.
If violence is an option, then violence is an option. The sociopaths and psychopaths seem to always forget that and rely on normal people wanting to avoid violence and do a 'peace in our time' Chamberlain deal while they get to have the monopoly on violence until people are scared into doing what they ask. That includes the sociopaths, narcissists and psychos who are MPs.
