Using the Terrain plugin for Unity Terrains

This video shows how easy it is using our Terrain plugin to get the data in Unity for use by the Unity Terrain system, with a few clicks you can model a spot on the earth, texture it and then export the data, and then using the MegaTerrain scripts you can quickly import that data into Unity along with the texture and build a terrain object from it. The scripts also allow you to zoom in on the data and scroll around it so you can use just the part you need.

We are working on a version of the plugin that works directly inside unity, there are videos on the channel or the web site that show it and that allows you to generate multiple terrain tiles from the data, so you can build 4 or 9 tiles for the area and Unity will stream what it needs, that could help your performance. We will add that functionality to the Unity scripts that come with the Max plugin as well soon.

In the demo version you can only grab a texture for the area around Mt Etna, secondly if you are using Vista you will need to disable the aero desktop first. If neither of those help please do get in touch through the website with details of your system etc so we can see what is going wrong.

I'm working on a game of aircrafts, so I need a pretty big ground (or at least it seems), but the Unity3d does not support it, the higher the ground .. lower performance.
This plugin cause decreased performance?

This is specialy for Airplanes games or is posible use this with good detail level for RPG games in open hig map scenario ?

now imagine increasing this to life size and then putting a first person controller in there with high-def 1080p texture quality. Wow.

Hey there, this looks AMAZING, but i was wondering if this could work with Unity Relief terrain shaders.  also can this system work with world machine made worlds?  could it reveal parts of the terrain as you move a player across the terrain to reveil more map?  what about boulder models and placed on the terrain.

Very nice plugin first of all, however when I click grab texture and set a file name and location for it... nothing happens.. I'm using 3ds max design 2011 x64, any ideas?

Unity is not really suited for large and detailled maps...
You can always try to stream data but you will have micro-stutters...
