When you talk business, they talk politics; when you talk politics, they talk business~ You win in either way, Bloomberg.

'Pony' was more like a nickname for him in his early days. I believe he now refers himself as Ma Huateng, direct translation from his Chinese name

Commy Party: I’ll help you grow by blocking these US tech companies here in China.

Pony Ma: ok, in return I’ll give you access to our data base.

Commy Party: DEAL! 👍🏼

Tencent has already earned a lot from the western market, they invested in many companies such as Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard. Tencent is also the owner of Riot and Epic Games, which means the famous esports game LOL and the new hot one Fortnite all belong to this penguin.
Before the Wechat changed the game, Tencent was fed with online game business, there were 300 million players of their FPS game CF, and many million players of DNF, these 2 games still making billions of RMB a year after 10 years since they came out in Korea and bought by Tencent.
Now it's making a game platform called WeGame which is aiming at PC game markets ruled by Steam, in fact, I just bought the PC version of Monster Hunter World with only tranditional Chinese in Steam which still requires a day to unlock, while WeGame users bought the game with a price like 60% of Steam or even lower, were able to play the game 9 hours ago with simplified Chinese.

4:05 “Unique Chinese innovation”. I didn’t know “innovation” meant blatant theft of other people’s ideas... 🤔
