Jams are a good way to *preserve* fruit, if you're growing your own. That being said, one benefit I can see from making your own jam or jelly is that you can also control the viscosity.

as someone who's been baking all sorts of cookies(with favorites) for over ten years i can say that the process is fun.
and they taste better than store bought.
(Unless it's Walker's shortbread, my recipes can't beat that)

Making butter at home is fun when you add your own seasoning/flavors to it

I like making chive and rosemary butter with salt, slaps for bagels, steaks, even stuff like macaroni and cheese from a box is improved by having ya own special butter :)

As someone who grew up in rural towns, where I always knew someone who had a cow farm, getting fresh cream, making butter with it and salting it to your taste *is* better than storebought, since it's simply fresher, and seasoned to your liking.
A lot of homemade things are "labeled" as homemade not because they are better, but to show you put effort into it.

Instead of whipping cream use the layer of fat over milk white butter will form which is better from preservative butter also white butter is little sweet and use the water release as buttermilk
