The whole joke about Pat is everybody else’s struggle to find out

I remember working a booth at a fair in high school with someone. We had one customer who, after he...or she..walked away, we looked at each other and asked whether it was a man or a woman. The genius of the Pat sketch is that the situation really does happen in real life.

The joke was that Pat would give vague answers when the protagonist asked clever questions that would reveal Pat's sex.

Julia Sweeney, imo, was just as much responsible in making the early 90s SNL as enjoyable and memorable as Farley, Sandler, Hartman, etc. Thank you Ms. Sweeney.

Pat with Roseanne was very funny. Julia was great on SNL! Not an easy thing to do. Thanks for all the laughs Julia!

I just recently discovered Pat and I find “them” HILARIOUS! Pat was definitely the OG non binary person (even if fiction)

As a non-binary person, "It's Pat" is one of my all-time favorite movies, and in 1994 it was ahead of its time.

My seven year old loves to do the pose from the It’s Pat movie poster.

I'm a non-binary adult and I love Pat. When I was a kid, I thought Pat was so cool (which is so funny because Pat is obviously a major dork). But the joke was always that everyone else was so stressed about whether Pat was a man or a woman while Pat was just living their life.

Pat is probably the most realistic portrayal of Gen-Z.

I was hoping she would do Pat again, for old time's sake. Oh well!

It just came to me. That's Dennis Miller.

Pat was a GENIUS character. The gender fuckery aside, Pat was awkward, geeky, and funny all on their own. But the gender play came from how other people reacted to Pat. Not how Julia portrayed the gender characteristics of Pat. Most trans and NB people have a great sense of humor about themselves. They aren't the constantly offended snowflakes conservatives try to make them out as.

Another reason I love Roseanne yet she can't be on tv because of PC culture.

People who think the joke was about making fun of Pat have the mind of a child
