It is important for a kid to understand the difference between pain and fear and that just because you feel pain you don’t have to be afraid

Pain is very distracting, to be able to separate it from fear is a good skill

The Idea here is deal with pain with out being angry and without doing something evil. Some deep wisdom.

My mother told me not to touch the stove... And then she sat there and watch me do it. I instantly understood why she told me not to do it. From that moment on I started to respect what my mother told me not to do.

The problem is when people don't understand why they are experiencing pain. It just sets them up to be resentful and sometimes it's justified when people hurt others unjustly.

Mike, PLEASE PLEASE have more conversations like this with these people. I feel their cultures will soon be gone and we will know their rituals and ceremonies but not their morals, values, reasoning, and introspective thoughts. Thanks for all you do as I live vicariously through you ❤️

My great granny did this to me in Belize. Flip us upside down & slap the bottom of our feet to drop my mole(soft spot in my head). Every child in family goes through it. I value & respect our traditions.

How is it that this man can say more in a YouTube short than most people comprehend in a lifetime

My mom taught me to swing my child as well. She told me it help to keep their joints strong and reduce their fears. We also tossed them up in the air and caught them a lot. After a while, they lost that startle reflex and giggled like crazy. He knows what he is talking about. That's why Africans are so cool under pressure and why they run so well. Well stretched.

He's absolutely right! We try to shelter our kids from both pain and fear, and when they inevitably experience this in life, they have no idea how to deal with it... and we wonder why they act out and show behavioral disorders

I get it. One time the power went out for 2hrs and the wifi turned off, it was a very physical and emotional time in my life.

Not being able to differentiate between pain (discomfort) and fear is why so many of us and our young people consider so many things to be “trauma experiences” instead of momentary pain/discomfort that they got through.
