I went recently at the end of March, and the biggest change I felt was how the JR Rail pass switched to a a regular ticket instead of the old booklet. It made it super convenient to go through the ticket turntables instead of having to go through the Booth and getting the JR Employee buzz you through. Not to mention it allowed you to use the electronic ticket kiosks to reserve train seats instead of having to go to the ticket office. I miss the old booklet, but these quality of life changes were great!

That being said it is unfortunate that there won't be many people who will see these changes due to the upcoming price hike for the JR Pass

Natasha! Nice to see her pop up again.

I visited Japan in October of 2019, so just a few months before the pandemic changed everything. Currently have a trip booked for October of this year, so it'll be interesting to see how things changed. The last trip didn't go entirely as planned due to some bad weather, so hoping to make up for it this time. Glad I got to see Akihabara in the before times, and it'll be interesting to compare to how it is now.

Was back in Japan a couple weeks ago. Being able to use credit cards most places was a big win. I was actually surprised how many Japanese people were NOT wearing masks. Still a great place to visit.

I'll be there in April of next year for Sakura season. That, temples and the deer of Nara park!

Visited in late February into March for vacation. One of the best vacations we've been on. We were there for 14 days and really enjoyed visiting Ginza, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Osaka. We've already starting planning for 2024 for a 30 day vacation. It is one of the best places to visit, the people, the food, and the sheer beauty of this country!

I finally booked my trip for September - just super happy to visit again after being kept out of the country for so long due to the pandemic. Looking forward to the simple things that make vacationing there so nice - Conbinis and Vending Machines everywhere, Japanese Western Toilets, reliable public transport...

I'm a regular visitor to Japan for the past 10 years, including twice since COVID. Certainly the embracing of digital payments is a great development, but I think some of the restaurants have lost their cosy intimate feeling with the screens still in place. There's a lot to do still, but I miss the Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku. It was a mad experience and I hope they bring back something similar in the not-too-distant future. I feel that while Shibuya has really improved, Shinjuku has been left a little behind and needs to do more to keep its popularity with tourists.
