We live in an area with the 2nd cheapest electric rates in America.
A neighbor had solar panels installed in his house during the build.
One of his electric bills last winter was .32 cents for the month.
The highest electric bill we’ve ever paid was 3 winters ago.
We keep our house at 68 degrees F and my dad kept his apartment at 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
His apartment is attached to our house, but he can have his temperature set differently than ours, but it’s the same heat pump, heater and A/C unit.
Our daytime highs for that month was 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Our bill was $140 that month.
Our house is 2220 sq ft and his 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with a full kitchen is 800 sq ft.
We’re wanting to install solar into our next home which we will build in MT.
Eric, thanks for your wealth of knowledge and insight. I appreciate it !

I don't have any insider info, I did hear about the upcoming terrifs a little while ago, but after seeing how much prices have dropped for solar and batteries in the last few years, I definitely don't see them going down anymore no matter what happens. I'm in no position to build a large system but I bought a couple small panels and a LifePO4 battery with the money I had from extra hours I worked. Can always buy more later, or just settle with building something small with what I have if prices skyrocket past what I'll pay.

415 W Trina Solar Panels are under 55€ (60 $) here in Germany now. From the first module. If you buy full pallets it is even cheaper. In 2023 I has to pay 200 € (216 $)

Recently updated the firmware on my EG4 Lifepower4’s. After updating I charged them at @ 56.8v and all 12 BMS’s performed a top balance on cells. SOC of all 12 batteries are grouped much tighter now. They all have been staying within 5% to 6% of each other. My system is totally DIY also Eric. Good heads up for anyone considering buying more panels.
Thanks pal!

Just last week, I ordered 26 x 345w *new* (Mission Solar) panels for $123/panel including shipping. Seemed like a pretty good price compared to my previous new and used purchases over the last 7 years. I can well believe what you're sharing :)

Tariffs never hurt the country they are against, they only hurt the consumers.

Really like how nicely you have your panel ground mounting. Do you have a video on what you used to do that?

I purchased my original 10 REC panels for $352.EA. In 2021. Found what I thought was a bargain of a deal on 10 more matching for $275.EA. Now Signature is advertising them for $104.EA. I should buy another 10 just to have @ that price.

The problem is, the solar industry wants people to buy entire home solar power systems for tens of thousands of dollars. More would be sold if industry would push hobby kits of 300 to 400 watt systems to power various little home projects.

If the panels are already here in the states then tariffs won’t apply.

Question: WOULD YOU ADVISE PURCHASING A QUANTITY OF PANELS NOW EVEN THO WON’T BE USING THEM FOR POSSIBLY A YEAR OR 2? WOULD ALSO BUY THE INVERTER & BATTERIES AT A LATER DATE. OR WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST PURCHASING NOW THAT WOULD BE USED ON A HOMESTEAD IN THE NEAR FUTURE. MORE THAN LIKELY THE HOMESTEAD WILL BE IN A DIFFERENT STATE THAN LIVING CURRENTLY.

That GW HUGE STOCK of solar panels should be installed as 2-axis tracking floating solar on Lake Mead to give 12hr clean energy and pump excess water from Gulf Mississippi outflow via a new pipeline.
