The blank key caps thing is totally about trying to justify having your keyboard look badass and kewl while being objectively less usable. The problem with blank keys isn't touch typing its all the special keys to the side. At a minimum I use print screen enough for it to be annoying but not enough to remember its exact location.

I am a touch typist but blank keycaps drive me crazy at miss-pressing the shortcuts (ctrl+c/v/b/n, ctrl+alt+t, ctrl+shift+r etc), which I still look at.
Praise for the browns. I am a bit faster with blues or clears (61 vs 60 wpm at half an hour copy typing) but clears make my hands a bit tired and blues feel downright horrible (but only my subjective feeling).

I've been using this keyboard for years and loving it, so I wanted to check some reviews to see what others think. For me, it's the best-looking (if not the best sounding) keyboard. Forget RGB lights and fancy keycaps—nothing beats the slick, all-black look of the Das Ultimate.

Regarding the problems one might expect from using blank keycaps, I too was somewhat apprehensive at first and had a backup keyboard for gaming and other things ... but it was unnecessary. I've had no problem writing, coding, or gaming on the Das Ultimate, and that knowledge has made me more confident when having to use other people's keyboards: I just trust the muscle memory!
