Nearly three years after George Floyd’s death sparked a nationwide movement for social change, America has yet to come to a true racial reckoning. Just last month another unarmed Black man, Tyre Nichols, was fatally beaten by police officers. Director of Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research Ibram Kendi recently released a book entitled How To Be A (Young) Antiracist). He joined American Voices to discuss what it will take to for the U.S. to have a true racial reckoning that prompts systemic change.

You understand that the NFL playing the “black national anthem” separate of the real national anthem only makes people feel as though black people want to be separate.

This is the kind of person that refuses to acknowledge that African chattel slavery was around faaar longer than it was in Europe and America. In fact, who do you think sold them slaves in the first place, “professor?”

Community policing saves lives, and is in no way similar to “slave patrols”.

Are Americans too arrogant to learn from those who do not have our problems?
Why not have all of our police trained by Norway and none of our police trained by Israel?

It's funny how people act like Americans don't understand what racism is. 😂

Don't try to destroy history and tell it at the same time. You can't knock down monuments and build your own. Think!

"To talk about race in America is to explore the wilderness inside ourselves and to come to terms with a history that we'd rather conceal."

If a police officer gets a call because of domestic violence, what does that have to do with slavery, if a police officer gets a call because of a traffic accident what does that have to do with slavery. Police are obviously there to enforce the law, and slavery is illegal and so is profiling a citizen simply based on race. Attitudes about race evolve, but there is no doubt that as a society America is the best example of overcoming prejudice.

We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God, " yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, can not God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: whosoever loves God must also love his brother."
~ 1st John 4:19-21 (NIV) 🕊

"Black people have never had the power to enforce racism, and so this is something that white America is going to have to work out themselves. If they decide they want to stop it, curtail it, or do the right thing... then it will be done, but not until then."

~ Spike Lee, American director, producer, writer, actor, and professor

The best way for kids to grow up to not be racist is to not tell them that one race did this and the other race did that. Keep them ignorant about it so they all play together in peace without judging others by their skin colour.
