Congratulations on the birth of your lovely daughter, already taking in our treasured countryside! Great butterfly footage. There seemed to have been a lack of them recently, but at the weekend, the roadside brambles were festooned with the fluttering beauties.

How lovely to see you with your daughter Liam, you must be so proud of her. Never to early to get them out watching wildlife! Great to see you plug the Big Butterfly Count. I did my count today as the sun was out, saw a few Large Whites, Meadow Browns, Gatekeepers and plenty of Ringlets (and a few Small Skippers, but they aren't on the checklist). Better than I feared, there have been so few butterflies about this year.

I’m in the North of England and so far this year we have had no butterflies. Our garden is usually full of them. I saw the first 2 yesterday. There has been a distinct lack of insects this year. One was a Comma, something I haven’t seen before so this video has been helpful.

How beautiful to be joined by your little one and talk about butterflies! You will have so much to chat to her about wildlife!
We once found our then 2 year old grandaughter I the garden, having thought she was quiet, sitting, quietly chatting to sparrows. They were all on the Nationwide, coming to bathe and drink from a tiny birdbath and just Potter about almost close enough for her to touch. A beautiful sight!

Delighted to see you have Reaver, receiving wildlife stories by the comforting tone of your voice, what a wonderful way to develop & grow. I was astonished that butterflies migrate over such long distances, being such delicate insects of colour & beauty.

Fatherhood has clearly brought you a lot of joy into your life; we can see it in your face.
So many gorgeous butterflies with their delicate petal wings fluttering away, how could you ever get tired of such beauty. I cannot wait to see the reactions of your little girl to the wonders of nature !

When I retired and moved to this house in a sheltered location I was amazed to see the numbers of Orange Tip butterflies ( and their white females) . I hadn't noticed them up at the farm I came from. Kind of surprised they weren't on this list but they are an early season species so maybe less seen by the survey time.
There were a decent number of Orange Tips in the spring here but since then I've hardly seen any of the normal Peacocks, Red Admirals and Tortoiseshells. I have grown three big budleas in my fairly wild garden just for them . The flowers have started opening in the past ten days so here's hoping.

Thank you and your little apprentice. That is the most concise and accurate description of our British butterflies I have heard/seen. Sometimes things get a bit too scientific and overwhelming. You made it so simple. Butterflies are special to me.

I love butterflies, saw the red admiral at my local river yesterday. My favourite has to be the Peacock, had quite alot of them in the garden last year but none so far this year, perhaps when the weather is better. Lovely to see you with the young one. Great vid, thanks 🦋
