How to play Scat: Card Games

Here's a quick and easy card game if you have a deck of cards, but not a ton of time.

(note) I realized whilst editing, that the score was tied at 26 so no one would have lost a life in that instance.

Me and my friends play this slightly different. We all get three lives, then instead of everyone losing a life the person with lowest card loses a life.it makes for some interesting games

I thought for a moment that this was about the game 'skat' (a german trick-taking game), because apparently 'scat' is not the same as 'skat', but rather a similar game to the german (I think Bavarian) 'schnauz' [pronounced shna-oo-tss], where there's 3 cards in the middle and each player can take either one or all three and there's no discard pile. The goal is still to get as high a score as you can, with 31 being schnauz, 3  aces being fire (feuer, where everyone loses a life) and any three cards of the same value (e.g. 9, 9, 9) is always worth 30-and-a-half points

We play a different way: low hand loses a life. If the person gets 31 (scat), then all other players lose a life. If you knock and you lose, you lose double. And finally, if you get three of a kind, that's worth 30.5
