For this feature, we wanted to see how the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) etc. in Level-2 ADAS experiences differ in cars at different price points. So, we picked the 2023 Honda City, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Ioniq 5 & Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 for this comparison.

ADAS is the latest buzzword in the automotive industry. That’s because autonomous driving is pegged to be the future of motoring. Given our chaotic roads and erratic driving behaviour, many believed this technology would take ages to come to the Indian market. However, the fact of the matter is that it’s already here and thriving. So, whether you have a budget of ₹15 lakh or the potential to spend 20 times more than that on a new car, you can experience the joys, or the headaches, of the so-called Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

With all four cars assembled, we set out to find how their driver assistance systems work in the real world, and how well are these tuned for Indian driving conditions.

Kudos to Honda for their hardwork and consistency towards their cars.

Wow, I thought Honda will be behind the pack because it doesn't have actual sensors. Honda is doing great with just a camera. Kudos to Honda

You are doing a great and unique comparison. Please enlighten us about the differences between camera based ADAS and radar based ADAS. Also tell us about the advantages and disadvantages of each type of ADAS

Honda HRV has this Adaptive cruise control, when the car in the front is cleared, it will automatically take off very aggressively (1.5 turbo model, 181 PS, 240Nm). HRV also has slow speed follow which works below 30km/hr.

ADAS was bought by MG to customers as a first un segment feature. Xuv700 came much later.

This comparison is certainly a great initiative as I have not seen any other channel doing this. However, I am surprised that you have not included a single Volvo model in this comparison which is the pioneer and introduced ADAS in India and whose effectiveness is considered the best in the world. Volvo is the only company which provides ADAS as standard across models and variants. I urge you to do a special feature on Volvo and then you may enlighten the viewers on how these cars compare with the benchmark i.e the Volvo. Thank you.

Thanks for pointing out the lane keep assist in XUV is not as efficient as we all thought it would as it swerves within a lane and goes zig zag and sometimes we can feel the G force when it turns sharply.. also it doesn't work properly after 120+ which I'm not sure if it's not supposed to or it's being really inconsistent.. got massively disappointed about this feature after testing it in my vehicle

MG Astor was the first to offer Level 2 ADAS in the mainstream Indian market, should have included it.

City Hybrid comes with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow which allows the driver to do the 'more sophisticated' things that are talked about here in the ₹2.5 Crore Mercedes 😅

nice video, but i want to ask if why not any MG cars included in the video if we're talking about ADAS. who's all started the ADAS thing in India. thats was a bummer.

Fact : These trials, comparisons, opinions and reviews are incomplete without MG Hector New Gen

You should also consider the MG Hector nex gen too or MG zs ev...It has also ADAS safety systems. Even the mg car is also far better. MG is one I guess who introduce the ADAS system in the segment.

So does the XUV give you a warning if you take your hands off the steering wheel like the other cars?

ADAS is a very useful feature. Sabse best ADAS toh Hector 2023 ka hai. You should also review the 2023 hector.

If honda city only gets level 1 adas, then there are cheaper cars that have ADAS, like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue (Kia's ADAS werent available when this video was shot)
