Meet the Hyundai i20N!
The third generation Hyundai i20 launched in 2020 and immediately set itself apart from its predecessor with dynamic looks, upgraded safety and connectivity features and electrifying 48-volt mild hybrid powertrains to maximise fuel economy.
It was quickly followed up in 2021 with the introduction of the N Line variant that combines advanced technologies with sportiness enhanced through exterior and interior design elements.
And of course we also have this i20 N performance variant – a model inspired by the championship-winning i20 Coupe WRC rally car to bring racetrack performance into the lives of consumers.
So how does the regular i20 compare to similarly sized rivals like the Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz? And is it worth paying a premium for performance with the i20 N? Let’s find out...

I have an I20N and I love it.

That being said, the wing isn't really generating downforce. I am an aviation engineer and specialized myself in CFD simulations and aerodynamics. In order to create downforce or lift, you generally need to redirect the airflow in the opposite direction that you want your force to be acted on (to make it simple). Meaning:

The wing should deviate the air flow towards the top in order to create downforce. This aero device seems to be more of a spoiler that was not designed out of efficiency, but out of styling. The four struts in the middle are causing me headaches.... The amount of drag generated with this design (angle, large surface, etc.) is simply non-sensical.

Other than that, it's a good car :).

I forgot to point out something: Spoiler =/= Wing. Spoiler is generally "spoiling" the airflow, which means that it detaches the air from the surface in order to reduce drag. You could argue that by detaching the flow you also prevent generating lift. Fair point, but at the airspeeds with this car on streets this is neglegible.

I20N has amazing tech for the money...mines has been fantastic. Dump the pirelli's.... pirelli's=wheels judder. 12 extra welds on chassis from basic i20. You can alter weight of the steering via center console plus much more. I feel you didn't get much time in the car, missed alot/most of the features....also how you can't have the car clean for a review is beyond me. It's a hot seat area lacking....missed alot of features. Should have reviewed a basic i20

A bit weird this one. The USP of the i20N is as a throw-back hot-hatch …. Fizzy performance … handbrake …. Manual gearbox … cheap all-in price tag…. That stuff. If you don’t want that, then you would not consider the i20N. My partner has a black i20N as her commuter and loves it. This means she has no reason to batter my RS3, which is a sort of polar opposite.

I had one for 5 months, about 4, 5k kms. Terrible car, the doorhandle broke on the passenger side, turbo had to be changed and it had a rattle in the dash when you drove over uneven terrain but that normal said Hyundai... Got myself a jcw mini again
