This is just a marketing strategy, and unknowing tourists risk their lives for it. As someone who has now hiked three 6km peaks, I can tell you that they were all equally physically challenging. However, Huayna Potosi was the most dangerous. It's completely littered with crevasses, which are widening, and the paths have been melting thin due to global warming. That being said.. if you're an experienced hiker who doesn't mind a little bit of risk, then I do recommend this peak. It is both challenging and rewarding. Also relatively cheap to do with a guide.
