Richie Benaud - Bang on as always, and a legend of the commentary box.

Now wait a few years for the Bancroft-Smith ball tampering saga to be "From the Vault" too

Richie, the great man, pulling absolutely no punches. As usual, he's 100% correct. It's important we never forget this horrible incident in Australian cricket because this is exactly the sort of thing we should aspire to avoid.

Thank you for posting this in such good quality. This must be preserved properly for the ages, as the epitome of ill sportsmanship. I love the Aussie WK's response, too -- Rod Marsh was truly a proper sportsman, protesting his captain's decision and making a point of apologizing to the NZ batsmen afterwards.

What a strong criticism by Richie. By listening it gave me goosebumps. I bet no modern commentators have balls to do it.

quick shout out to Rod Marsh who visibly stood against it, telling them not to do it and then you can see he goes and apologises to them on the way off the ground

Good on you, Cricket Australia for sharing this.

Kudos to Richie Benaud for criticising members of the team he used to captain himself. This weekend's ball-tampering incident by the Australians in South Africa deserves a similar rebuke.

Richie Benaud never called it any less that straight down the middle, if he saw Australia doing something he didn't approve of, he'd make his feelings very clear. Class act and commentary standard bearer, he's missed everyehere the game is played.

RIP Rod Marsh . What a cricketer you could clearly see he said - " Don't do that mate" .. Cricket lacks characters like you these days.

What I find remarkable is that the Australian team at the time didn't think that the manner of the victory would become infamous across the world and here we are in 2020 discussing it nigh on 40 years later!

I swear, I would have picked up the ball and throw it over the boundary for a six

Now some Aussies are saying New Zealand got robbed, and I just had to come back to remind myself what being robbed really looks like

40 years on it's still great to hear Mr. Benaud call it as it was.

Richie Benaud pulling no punches. It was a disgrace to true sport. Yes you play to win but you play in a sporting fair way. Where was their honour?
