What is a licensed Conveyancer ? - This is a short video that outlines the key differences between a Licensed Conveyancer and a Solicitor.

A licensed conveyancer is a specialist property lawyer who's regulated by the council for licensed conveyancers, known as a "CLC". The role of a conveyancer is very similar to a solicitor who practises in property, but the licensed conveyancer is limited to property and land law, where as the solicitor can practise other areas of law, such as litigation, matrimonial as well as property.

Prior to 1985 homeowners had little alternative but to use a solicitor for their conveyancing requirements, however the increasing amount of legal resource used by solicitors mean't that the conveyancing industry itself needed to expand and cater for the demands of the growing people looking to purchase.
