Gojo was so enraptured in his own power that he failed to see that his best friend was becoming depressed. He really had no idea until Geto killed a whole village.

in this scene u can kinda see how Geto's slowly getting annoyed with being powercrept by Gojo more and more.

After the event, Gojo could walk away from it and view it as a success. He had overcome death, and became even stronger. He gained praise from the elders, adding to the legend of Satoru Gojo. Geto was left with a sense of failure. No one was there to comfort him, or help him process the situation. He was left abandoned, even by his best friend. This, coupled with being asked the worst question at the worst time, lead him down the path to him and Gojo being on opposing sides.

This is when Gojo starts to really feel lonely because now even Geto is below him.

The animation for when he spun the pencil around was really well done, holy shit

I think the main reason why Gojo trained this particular technique is because of what happened with Toji. He caught Gojo by surprise. Gojo didn't want it to happen again. While Geto lost his mind Gojo trained his, I feel like that itself deserves a lot of respect.

Shoko tells Gojo that using his technique too much will fry his brain, and then pulls out a cigarette the next second💀

Everyone thinks about Suguru, but they always forget that Satoru was also traumatized, he almost died against Toji, and was revived, but he decided to focus on his title as the strongest.

i just notice here 0:29 and here 0:36 shows a bit the difference between gojo and geto, the hallway sides are clearly different one brighter than the other

Feeling like you're getting left behind and your best friend being the source of it on top of the unaddressed trauma is insane to experience. Not saying Geto was right but I understand

Btw, as someone who did penspinning as a hobby during mid/high school, doing these tricks with a wooden pencil is extremely difficult. Especially the last aerial one, I'm even not sure it is physically possible to do it. It is possible with a pen, but I don't think a wooden pencil has enough moment of inertia to keep spinning this way in the air.

Whole animation budget went into the pencil spin 😂

The people thinking that Geto went a wall all because Gojo "powercrpt" him really have not enough empathy to understand him in the sligthest huh

Its so sad watching the light disappear from getos eyes gradually only for it to re emerge brighter than ever with him going all psycho

Shows that "heros" and "villians" have very similar upbringings, just the resultant of which path they decide that makes them so different
Geto and Gojo had similar ideas, was great in strength, etc. but the one event made the biggest change making Geto go down a path not desirable while gojo stayed on top
