Great lesson. Precise, short and sweet. Kudos Nate.

Really great lesson. One to add to my Tennis Tips playlist. Great tip to practice catching the incoming ball with the non-dominant hand. This creates unit turn, spacing and eye on the ball skills (a-la Federer). Racquet back and ready just before the bounce is perfect (love the tried and true calling out of "bounce" and "hit"). When I practice forehands I also remind myself to flex my knees slightly so I can push into the shot (too many rec players swing stiff-legged) and to swing up and over my non-dominant shoulder while pulling the non-dominant arm up and out of the way and catching the racquet over my non-dominant shoulder. These two additional swing points really help me to create topspin for control, plus leg drive and torso rotation for a stronger shot. Always love PlayYourCourt tips. I try keep you guys in mind every time I go out to practice or play matches and it always helps my game.

I had 2 hours practice last night with a ball machine on forehand and double handed back hand and very quickly muscle memory kicked in and it all became natural!

Good video as usual. Can I catch the ball and shadow a stroke on the backhand side if I have a two handed backhand? You demonstrated on the forehand side only.

Timothy Gallway (sp.?), as far as I recall, didn't advise in "Inner Tennis", " The Inner Game of Tennis", etc., that the "bounce, hit" method include the speaking of "bounce, hit" when the ball is on the opponent's side. It is only when the ball hits on my side that I say "bounce" and "hit" when I make contact with ball. It would be way too busy and confusing the other way as the video here showed it and not in keeping with Gallway's method. Am I right? I think so. One more thing: the bounce hit technique is very effective.

Great drill! Should the arm be fully extended at contact or with a bent elbow like in your shots?

It looks like you are catching the ball (Step 1) with a closed/neutral stance most of the time and finally hitting the ball (Step 3) most of the time with a semi-open stance.. Is it important to use the same stance in Step 1 "catching" as in Step 3 hitting (assuming the ball feed is identical for both catching and hitting steps).

Hi, I've been watching a few videos on beginner forehand and I'm quite confused. All players seem to use the wrist lag, but it's not something I was taught. My instructor tells me I have to use a hip height to low curve and just brush the ball as I swing. I don't know if what I'm describing makes sense. Anyway, I see you guys use a similar swing? Thanks.
