In case you missed it: listen to Menaka’s conversation with columnists Robyn Urback and John Ibbitson about the Conservative Party’s new leader, Pierre Poilievre. They explore what Poilievre’s win says about the Conservative party, what Poilievre stands for and how other federal parties will have to respond to counter his popularity.

This is a recording of a live event broadcast on Twitter Spaces on Monday, September 12.

stop saying "far right", it's so stupid.

I guess far right means common sense, responsibility, and sanity these days.

to have someone on the podcast saying the trucker protest in ottawa was illegal ... almost clicked off immediately. why? because a judge ruled it legal and put restrictions on the honking...to have such ignorance vocalized without correction does not reflect well. tsk

We became members of Conservative party because Pierre was the only politician to have the balls to stand for the convoy. It was a legal demonstration no matter what Justin says.

It's funny that they call Poilievre a populist...I mean, so is Trudeau and Singh. The both got into their position because they were "popular"...especially Trudeau...we forget now but if we go back to the 2015 election cycle the Liberals weren't making any headway in the race, we were probably heading for a minority Conservative Gov't. Then all of a sudden the Syrian refugees became an issue when a little boy drowned (obviously very tragic!), but Harper said "we will absolutely bring Syrians to Canada but will do so within the rules and regulations that are in place" and Trudeau came out and said "we will bring 25, 000 Syrians to Canada in 3 months", with that statement the emotions of the race changed and all of a sudden the Liberals surged and won a surprising majority. You can't call that anything else but populism, he capitalized on a tragic situation that people worldwide were watching unfold on their t.v. screens and got a popular vote for his party, with an issue that everyone has completely forgotten about. That is the definition of Populism.

Balanced and informative podcast, refreshing to see in the advent of increasingly biased media.

I will take lightly what was said here, because it's more opinion based than fact based. Let's wait and see what will happen and said in the near future.

Wow! Global - truthful news trying to report on substance - A breath of fresh air. Something voters don't see much of these days. Like, I moved to specific podcasters and never waste time on fake-news, corrupted and politically manipulative - soo disgusting. Byron Starr, Engineer & Truth-seeker. Vancouver BC
