The US and its allies have jointly condemned North Korea’s recent series of missile launches. Speaking at an emergency meeting held by the United Nations Security Council on March 20, 2023, the US ambassador to the UN said Pyongyang’s “unlawful launches” posed “a clear threat to the global non-proliferation regime”. North Korea’s latest missile test took place on March 19, and appeared to have been launched from a buried silo that analysts say would improve the speed and stability of future tests.

When I look at North Korea and the Korean peninsula, I understand the historical and political significance of Vietnam’s reunification in 1975. Once all the wars were done and national security was more or less protected, it could focus all-out on economic development and for the wellbeing of the nation’s citizens, being the most sustainable basis for national survival and existence. I am glad that Vietnam in the end resisted the great powers’ desires to keep the country divided and paralyzed by wars. I wish for North Korea to be able to focus on the people’s economic and social wellbeing in the future.

I love and respect what the North is accomplishing. Strength is the greatest approach to cope with the US. And North Korea did it flawlessly in 2017, when they replied to the United States' threat by ending US citizen Otto Warmbier. He was braindead, deaf, blind, and had to eat through a straw. The US backed down and never threatened them again. It's a joy to watch.
