Gazing upon these creatures, Elmo couldn’t help but feel odd. He had no emotions but….. some power was overcoming his iron mind. Perhaps a distant memory…

Elmo was only an infant when he was left for dead. Abandoned by his parents and shunned by society, he had lost hope for himself long ago. He couldn’t even remember how he came to be what he is today. He distinctly remembered a light, brighter than the sun itself. A power, elder than time descending from it and beckoning to him. He didn’t have anything to live for, so he answered the power’s call. He was suddenly transformed into this creature that he was now

Jerking back to reality, he saw the children, cowering in fear before him. He saw….. himself? Suddenly he knew what he had to do. While he had known that his reign as the devourer needed to change, he hadn’t realised it would be this soon.

He offered the children a hand. As he did so, he could feel someone offering a hand to him too. When the children accepted, Elmo felt the hand pull him out of his body, tearing him away from his miserable life and giving it to the children. He didn’t want this for the children but knew that it was necessary.

For they would never cower in fear again. And he would get his freedom.

(PS: this is my first time doing something like this so I’m sorry if the story isn’t exactly cohesive. Hope you like it!🙂)
