During IBC 2024, we stopped by the LC-Tec booth to discover their latest innovation, the Electronic Variable Diffusion filter system. This innovative system consists of a 4x5.65-inch glass with liquid crystals that slots inside a matte box, plus a small controller box that allows you to precisely dial in the amount of diffusion in your filter. Moreover, the company showcased the new Metabones EF-E CINE eND Smart Adapter, which uses their electronic VND technology.

Hope they make a L Mount version of the Metabones for all the upcoming PXYIS users and existing BMCC6K users!

Need that metabones for L to PL mount ASAP

Imagine this baked into any mirrorless camera as part of the sensor stack, or in kit lenses with electronic contacts.

The exposure triangle could become an exposure square finally, in-body.

That's great to hear! I've asked myself why, instead of an eND Adaptor between two lens mounts, why not an eND Adaptor for the native lens mount directly to the same Mount camera body (between the native lens and the native camera mount)?

I can't believe I bought effectively the same product way back in 2015. It was the little know HolyManta VND which was a variable ND mount adapter that allowed the ND filter to 'flip' to the side. 2015! Nearly 10 years later and somebody else finally attempts something similar and better.

I just watched a video yesterday of guys making sunglasses with photochromic glass that is controlled by electricity. And this guy is rolling out a NDfilter camera. With same technology It's amazing.

The metabones adapter is super cool but they need to bring it to many other pairs of lens mounts, like RF and L mount, and PL lenses

When is it available?? Where would I be able to get it?
I do not like using VND filters, and swapping is a bit of a pain and costs way too much.

Be nice to have that on my GH6 and GH7.

Wow 😀 we really need it for RF to EF, switching to clear by taking out a filter and putting another back in again is just way too much struggle on doc shoots 🙈

great idea, but NOT just for cinema cameras, how about making it for stills to, as LF and MF film photographers in particular have this need to, and in a bigger size, so dropping it while exchanging sets is an issue so having it built in, say in a lens for Phase One XT or XF cameras, or for hasselblad, so you screw it to the lens once, and have ND or polarisation at ones fingertips, perhaps even if integrated into camera backs, this could auto compensate for exposure, so easing workloads.

What about the people who has Sony cameras and e mount lenses. I would love to use that adapter without buying ef lenses that I already have in e mount.

Is this adapter will be compatible with crop sensors and full frame? Only E-mount to EF? What about E-mount to E-mount lens

perhaps true 24fps with the right shutter angle can be achieved on iphones now!

$599 for a piece of LCD screen to be put between your lens and sensor...

Getting tired of Sony's lies...

Sony: We currently can't include electronic variable ND filter into our mirrorless with IBIS
Metabones: hold my beer

In the past, Sony also said: Third party lenses can't shoot faster than 15 FPS.
Sigma now supported on Canon: Supports 120 FPS!
More recently, Sony: Sigma can now shoot 120 FPS on A9 III, but it can't AF-C
