Russia Blasts US For Taiwan 'Provocation' Against China, Says AUKUS Against 'Asian Neutrality'

Russia condemned the US and its allies' "destructive" policy in the Asia-Pacific region, terming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan as a "carefully planned provocation" against China. "The United States and its allies are acting in the same reckless and provocative manner in Asia and Africa (as in the Euro-Atlantic region)," Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, told a Security Council briefing Monday. Washington and its allies are trying to impose "bloc thinking" in the Asia-Pacific by forming "aggressive military-political alliances" such as AUKUS to "drive a wedge between countries that have effective mechanisms for resolving contentious issues," he said.
