Lenovo's Thinnest Gaming Laptop! // Lenovo Legion Slim 7 Review

Review of the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15" gaming laptop. This is one of Lenovos if not Lenovos thinnest gaming laptops. It packs a Ryzen 7 5800H RTX 3060 and a FHD 165HZ Display weighing 4.1 LBS. It has so many great things going for it but there's a few things holding it back.

I have this laptop and it is a beast! Good balance of performance, cost, and stealth.
I’ve had this guys on whisper mode and screen at around 80% brightness and was able to work on it for around 6 hours before needing to move for a charge.

It also runs my 4K 60 monitor no problem for productivity tasks. Each of those USB-C ports support DP1.4

* One Update. I was just able to get the GPU to boost to 118W. But the laptop has to be completely cool and the task has to be mostly GPU dependent. If you're pushing it hard all day.

Thanks for the review! I have this laptop and I am able to get 95W+ under performance mode in a GPU only workload. That is pretty close to its 100W rating for this RTX 3060 Max-Q. Temp was around 70 degrees.

Thank you for doing a review on this laptop!!! It's the perfect mid-range content creation laptop. I'm really digging the UHS reader. You probably didn't get good battery life because of the Corsair iCue software running in the background. Jarrod's tech did a bit about that.

About freakin time someone reviews this! I would recommend buying the 16GB soldered version on Lenovo's website, that way you can upgrade it to 32gb. Also, the Corsair RGB software has been known to drain battery and performance. I would recommend turning that off or just not get the RGB version.

So i have to share my experience i have 2 of the best buy 5800h 3060 versions with FHD display 16gb ram and 1 of the costco 5900hx 3060 FHD 32gb ram versions of this laptop in my household. They have exceeded any expectation we have had of these in every single way and i cant believe this is the same computer thats in this video.. seriously. Something had to have changed in production or something i just dont understand. Not to mention ALL of ours can routinely hit over 100w power on the graphics chip under full load when needed in performance mode and actually edges out BOTH a 2021 g15 3060 and 2021 m16 i9 3060 we also have in gaming performance which was absolutely shocking for me to see. Not to mention it gets on par battery life with the G15 fairly easily once you uninstall icue and set your settings right (you still get rgb control with the preset settings on board of RGB fan, static white, rain drop, and some adaptive).

I can’t hear the fans vs other ones like my m16 asus it’s night and day when going at full spin. The webcam is poor but at least its there and passible like many others (whos got a good one minus the surface pro, macbooks, and some of the msi 1080 ones?) I’ve had actual insane performance vs what was expected out of something like this especially for the money (my son can stream at 1080/60 6k bitrate on twitch using all ports with usb hub on external monitor (1080 144) sm7b mic and audio interface, external keyboard and mouse while running world of Warcraft at ultra settings without ray tracing on and using nvidia broadcast to eliminate background noise and AI green screen the cam WHILE still maintaining 100fps and acceptable thermals on a cooling pad 85c cpu(25-30%) 65c gpu (95-99% use) and I would have thought there was zero fucking chance of it doing that but it does. This is on the lesser best buy model too.

I run the 5900hx version and i have to say it contradicts anything I've ever thought about slim and light laptops. Mine came with 32gb ram though i upgraded the one stick to a 32GB so it now has 48gb ram, put a 2TB in the empty SSD m.2 slot and i swear to you its just a package you wouldn't believe you can get in this form factor and especially sub $1500us.

I just got my brand new Lenovo Legion 7 slim with 32GB RAM, AMD RYZEN 9 5900HX, RTX 3060, 2TB SSD all for 1799. Not a bad deal. so far loving the performance of this machine.

I usually like legion slim lineups. But i didn't expect the temps went so high on this laptop. Yeah not all amd laptop's are cool. Still recommended in my book and bigger display is always a nice thing, more convenient than smaller display of G14 (and we got a webcam too).

just dropping to say how beautiful this laptop is. i have barely stayed in the living room. best things ... qhd disiplay, smooth mouse pad, beautiful rgb lights, lockavbe fn keys, premium feel, 180 tilt screen, only this is i avoid touching the back of screen to keep it fingerprint cleam. and the audio by harman so clean and nice. Best laptop purchase. i ahve seen macbook pro, i would still choose this.
