OK...I am about 3 minutes in...and I am blown away by the quality of this video!...Wow for 1975 it's beautiful...AND..Even though I just found this series....and I am 56 years old...I can just tell it is exactly the sort of vintage television that I love to watch.I can not explain the comfort it brings me...but it is a comfort that I do not get anywhere else..

Watching these episodes of the 70s Famous Five series is a guilty pleasure of mine, even at the age of 42! 😊 For me it symbolises the era before technology took over completely.

Growing up I was very "attached" to this 70s version of the Famous Five. This version captures the plot best in my opinion. But I see BBC released a new version in 2023: time fo the next generation to take these great tales n run with them !!

The Famous Five was my first book series by Enid Blyton when I was a kid in the 80s in Malaysia. However these TV series were never shown on our local telly. After I devoured the Famous Five books, I dived into Five Find-Outers and Dog (Old "Clear Orf"), Adventurous Four, Secret Seven. By the time I finished these, I was already in my mid teens. My taste shifted and I went into Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators.

Loved reading Enid Blyton as a child of the 80s. Don't remember ever watching this on telly though. However this is way, way better than the rebooted version which was complete nonsense.

This was updated for the 70’s. Still recognisable as the original idea.
The latest BBC version represents a view of the 2020’s: ie a freak show.

George was the one I identified with the most as a child, and probably was one of the first representations of a gender-questioning character that I remember reading.

wow. this is not what i expected. although i was too young to remember it. i was probably 5-8 years old when i watched this. all i really remember is the name, and a vague idea of watching it on a black and white tv.
i didnt expect a character like george in such an old show. she is already rather abrasive. i decided to stop watching after 7 minutes and 11 seconds. im sure it gets better though. probably.
