Nowadays we are all scared; everywhere you look there are headlines about war, economic crisis, murderer etc. We live in a world, where politicians and journalists follow media criteria to become popular and this is how we build populists, but not leaders. Look at the Pulitzer Price or the World Press Photo all winner stories are about drama, war and other bad things that happen around the world. Are there no positive ones to tell? Journalism should be an inspiration to solve problems and to see the world with both eyes.

Ulrik Haagerup is the Executive Director of News at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and established there the “constructive journalism”.

Thank you so much for having integrity, which no American networks have. Wish you were in our country!

Oh yes i agree on many of his statements... If i can point out also here in America the corporate news mentality, bad news, negativity sells----the shocking effect. Fear and anger when aroused are powerful motivors. Human society for all to long has been based on fear and guilt. The information age has been a blow horn which has intensified "bad news".

Dear speaker, I have used your talk for a TED Circles a few weeks ago. I would like you to weigh in on NBC's decision on scheduling competing Town Hall meeting with Joe Biden.

Our nations media has way too much bias for my taste. I get my news from other countries. Amazingly, they seem to tell the whole story not just their own slant on things.

Next time you're in NY, see if you can discuss this idea with Maureen Dowd.

Nice talk... just kind of ironic how they use "Donald Trump" as click bait. Because this talk doesn't really go into the phenomenon Trump... great talk though on the topic of constructive journalism

Yuck, I hate Huffington Post. Constructive News is another term for "telling you what to think". MAGA

"The media is the filter between reality and people's perception". That sentence wraps it all up.

Some people need to focus on solving evolving problems. The news can be about problems but just tell the truth

So journalists figured out what common people figured out years ago. I was a teenager when I stopped watching TV exactly for the reason this guy described here - it was only bad news and mostly aimed at sensationalism and drama.
