Welcome back guys! Here's a fun impromptu review of the second generation Toyota Tundra with the big 5.7 force max V8.
Just for the record i filmed this over 3-4 months before posting it, before all the new tundra turbo engines had been recalled. Point proven?

I regret selling my 2010 a few years ago but the guy who bought it is thrilled with it.

There has never been a "perfect truck", but you can find a nearly perfect used truck that you can repair.

My rust free 2007 Tundra that I rescued in '17 currently has 321, 000 miles on it, and over the past 8 years it has cost me just shy of $2, 800 per year to own and operate (fuel cost not included). This cost includes the purchase price of $5, 000, my modifications, maintenance, full coverage insurance and repairs including replacing the motor at 315, 000 miles because previous owners neglected timely oil changes and coolant flushes... that's less than $250.00 per month, this cost will go down the longer I keep the truck and maintain it properly.

Repairs:

head & tail light housings
door checks
clock spring
fuel pump
flat tray on passenger seat
steering wheel
drive shaft & output seal
belt moldings
gas & oil cap
drivers wiper arm
drivers arm rest
drivers window & lifting mechanism
AC damper servo
3UR FE 5.7L motor
cooling system

I am on my second Tundra. The first was a 2002 4x with the 4.7v8. Nothing fancy, the SR5. Finally decided to get something new in '19 (couldn't kill the darn thing but finally got bored with it) so bought the Limited 4x with the 5.7. So from 2002 to now, two vehicles. First Toyota truck was a '94 V6 (before the 'Tacoma' name). Got t-boned into a building in 2002. So from 94 to now, 3 vehicles. And that '19 is of course going strong to get me well into the next decade if prior experience is any indication. Yea I don't wanna buy vehicles every other day so I stick with what works.

Beautiful truck! I’d take one of those, V8 version of course, over a new F150, every day of the week.

Just for the record I actually filmed this video back in February! And while I don’t remember what I said since that was 4 months ago, I do want credit for claiming this as the most reliable truck. Especially since many of the new 3.4 V6 TT Tundra engines have been recalled! That is all. 🤪

I had Toyota put in the TRD performance dual exhaust on my Tundra.
I also have the TRD performance exhaust on my 23 Tacoma.

Looks almost like my 2020 SR5 Tundra. But I only paid $20, 000 for it, and it had 45, 000 miles. Also, it has 20 inch rims and it’s black my favorite color. Also have a 2004 quad cab Tundra and it’s my baby too.

Glad I purchased a new 2nd generation 2021 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro employing that bulletproof naturally aspirated 3UR-FE 5.7 liter V-8 engine and reliable 6 speed Aisan transmission

A neighbor / friend bought a 2011 Tundra Access cab 4WD with the 8’ bed and 90K miles for $4K. It had been in an accident, so he put another $4K into it. So he basically paid $8K for his Tundra.
He now has 170K miles and it still runs like new.
He told me that he’ll keep it until it’s completely worn out.
It’s a bit rough body wise because it’s a work truck, but mechanically it’s in perfect condition.
They have an older Lexus with the 4.7 V8 and they have a gazillion miles on it. In a few years they’ll give it to their son for his first car and I’m sure if he doesn’t wreck it, it’ll be passed down to their other 2 kids.
He told me that they’ll buy a 24 or older 4Runner for his wife after they give their son the Lexus.

One question, how’s the column shifter spring resustance? Does it still click in place and requires some force? Or flopping around

I Loved our 2010 Tundra 4WD Access cab with the 5.7L V8, but we couldn’t afford 8 mpg city and 15 mpg on the highway.
I sure do LOVE my 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab, long bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs. At 315 horsepower and 295 lb ft of torque at 2, 300 RPM, while getting 21.9 mpg at 86 mph.

My 2018 runs like it's brand new. Correction for you though, it's Cavalry blue, not Calvary blue.
