Life sure does change, we have entered the age of lunacy

Going AWOL is a big deal in the military. You can be thrown into the brig and given a dishonorable discharge. Austin cannot be given a court martial as he is now a civilian, but he should be fired, no question about that.

Former 24 Year Soldier here: 100% AWOL. His Chain of Command did NOT approve his absense.

This dude had weeks to tell staff and have them prepared. And he gets off Scott free? Another example of this bumbling buffoon of an administration.

Austin is a good example of Affirmative Action and what you get with it.

Could he possibly be any more pathetic?!

Zero accountability for this whole administration

Accountability. No service member would be allowed to leave their post without permission or notice even for surgery.

You can read the body movements and they all say ""I'm gonna have to weasel my way out of this", typical arrogant jerk!

What an animal (Austin), not wanting to reinstate all those soldiers…

What a humbling moment. Now he has an idea how his Soldiers felt when he treated them this way during NJP.

One man's struggle IS NOT more important than the safety of the hundreds of millions of US citizens. This administration is an embarrassment.

Really a Four Star General and doesn't tell his staff he going in for surgery. What else is he not telling us?

When are we going to stop giving the people with the most responsibility passes on everything? People lower on the totem pole get absolutely crushed when they derelict their duty.

I’m tired of seeing tyrants roam free in this beautiful country we call America.

We really have to question his judgment. He must not respect his boss.

Imagine the luxury of being able to schedule surgery and get it within two weeks. If this were us we’d still be waiting just for the appointment to be seen.

I wish him well and as a childhood cancer survivor, I hope for the best for a full and complete recovery. However, having a son entering the Army Reserves, he needs more consistent and reliable role-models and superior officers than this. I think he should be stepping down.

Dereliction of duty, failure to report and perform duty and more. His lack of accountability and punishment again clearly shows there are two systems of justice. One for the special people and the other for the rest of us. It's undeniable!
