I noticed that he had the Mandalorian Super Commando Captain helmets and a battle droid head

At 0:13, you can see Mando'a letters on the wall. They spell out K-E-N-O-B-I. That along with Satine's shrine shows how Mandalore, Satine, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are all wrapped up in Maul's mind.

Too bad Maul wasn't the one to beat the Empire. He was the rightful owner of the Darksaber after all. He had more support than anybody from the likes of Mother Talzin, Savage Opress, Nightbrothers, Nightsisters, Death Watch, Mandalorians, Black Sun, Crimson Dawn, Hutt Clan, and the Pyke Syndicate. If only he was better organized and had more loyalty from his criminal groups, he would've won for sure.
