What did yall think of Campaign 3 Episode one! What were your favorite Critical Role highlights?

I can almost guarentee the other players were definitely just standing off screen because you hear Travis laughing at one point off screen to something that's being said at the table.

The initial part when Matt asked everyone to leave except Laura and Marisha was a good introdution for the audience as well. Maybe it was not intended, but one could assume that many new people are having their first contact with critical role, and with only two players at the table, is easier to keep track of "who said what".

The insight check thing is a bit of an inside joke with CR from Campaign 2. They were shiftier characters than VM, so they didn't trust any NPC or each other so they just started shouting "Insight check!", which annoyed Matt, and then it became a meme

When dealing with PvP at the table it all boils down to players' trust and respect of one another. If you have a close knit, skilled group that have played together for a while, fun things can come of it. Assess your table thoroughly before going into PvP.

Laura has the Telekinetic feat. In the first combat she used a bonus action to telekinetically pull FCG

Taliesin is always Matt's test subject for homebrew subclasses.

I would love to see Robbie stay for good, he has great chemistry with the group.

(4:30) - It was a 'sneaky' way to get Travis out of his chair and have Robbie come in instead as a 'Surprise!'

(9:00) - EXU : the characters started out as 2nd lvl, and didn't level up until the end (becoming 3rd) so they moved right on into the game. [spoilers] - at the end of EXU they talked about where their characters would go next and it hinted at travelling together and towards Marquet.

(14:20) - Deception DC : you can also use their 'passive deception' as a DC... (10 + Deception modifier) as a default or starting point.

Keep doing this videos. Theres a surprising lack of CR breakdown, as far a ruling and homebrew

The passive perception vs stealth, is a great mechanic to port into the PvP (or even general) social checks, when needed. Passive Insight, Passive deception, passive intimidation and even flat passive charisma when active effort isn't needed.

Mat had each group their own session zero. That they played off screen. This gave them back ground stuff to play off and refer to in the episode.

Imagine if "The Anger" is just, "The Ranger" misspelled by whoever gave the exu characters their quest

Yes, keep these coming! After EXU, I’ve gotten into the habit of waiting for these videos to pop up. I can read fan theories anywhere, but I come here for your highlights, your perspective and the CR-to-homegame translation work you do.

Was excited to see this, especially considering you'd done EXU and what happened in E1, haha.

One of my theories is that Ashton knows who or was the one to destroy F.C.G's companions.

i'm glad you intend to make videos like this - please continue. it's good to have someone experienced saying: "what can we learn from this part of their game to apply at our own tables" or even (and i think it's ok to say this, even with CR) "what could have been done better?" or "what didn't quite work?"
i thought the character introductions and Matt's opening monologue were fantastic. i love that they seem to be using a mixture of interesting subclass choices and homebrewed features. i'm sure you're right, we might well see more of these homebrewed subclasses in "Call of the Netherdeep".
I love FCG as we all love Sam, but I wish he wouldn't troll other cast members. it must take extraordinary patience from Laura for him to apparently choose to play the direct opposite of jester (the cleric who wouldn't heal). i've seen people describe FCG as a literal "heal-bot" and that seems pretty accurate
I want Marisha to finally show everyone what an awesome D&D player she is with the darkest and creepiest CR character yet and with the direct connection to Whitestone and Campaign 1.
I've taken some flak for this on commenting on other YouTube videos but I wish CR had told us that Orym and Fearne were Liam and Ashley's C3 character choices and there would therefore be a direct connection between EXU and C3. I'm not saying I dislike the characters but EXU didn't excite me. Why couldn't CR just SAY there would be a connection. It doesn't need to be a secret!
I'm sure Travis will play the whole campaign but not with Bertrand. i thought Matt said that the party were going to look for someone. Is it not likely that the "someone" is Travis' permanent character. And then, as others have suggested, Travis can play Bertrand in EXU once a month.
Just to be clear, I love CR as much as ever! but i think they can improve their communication

The Spiritual Tomato was a nice touch, wondering what other Spiritual Veg we can expect
