"Erazor Djinn, you shall live out the rest of time, trapped inside your lamp as you were in days of old!" is basically Sonic saying "burn in hell".

That last scene where sonic wished for a mountain of handkerchiefs was actually a super beautiful message. Shahra will probably have to heal for years after being under Erazor’s control, and Sonic knows that. In the beginning, Sonic said he was going to get her to smile, but he recognizes how hard that will be after all they’ve been through. At the very least, a ridiculous amount of handkerchiefs can help her cope with the pain she feels now until she gets to a point where she can smile.

The way Sonic sits down after Erazor says that is just as good as him saying. “I’m not giving you a choice.” I love that 😊

Never played this game myself, but i've watched the final boss for this game so many times online and the whole "Darkspine Sonic" thing always hits me like a brick. The fact that Sonic's Hatred, Sadness, and Rage attracted the rings of the same name to him like that and you can hear his pain in his scream as he transforms suddenly. Then you can just hear how messed up in the head he is during the boss. That's some powerful stuff man.

I like to think that Darkspine Sonic is what could have been Sonic's true transformation as a result of the Seven World Rings, but it was altered by Sonic's anger towards Erazor and grief towards Shahra's death. That explains his perpetual anger and rage throughout his bossfight. Notice he's barely giving hints himself (most of them are given by Shahra's voice/spirit). It's because he's struggling to retain his sense of mind. If Sonic hadn't mustered up the will to revert his transformation, he could have become completely lost to his grief.
Makes sense really. He's never personally dealt with the death of someone close to him.

It took me a minute to realize that Alf Layla Wa Layla discarded the Hatred, Sadness, and Rage Rings and they went to Sonic, who was still processing Shahra's death. That's why he sounds almost in pain, anguish, and has rage in his voice. Kind of a bit like Werehog Sonic. It's a bit of a similar concept.

Remember when Sonic was a cool character, epic engaging stories, and fairly hard gameplay? Yeah good times.

So apparently Darkspine Sonic was unintentional. Erazor was suppose to sacrifice Sonic (The one who gathers the rings) to get the 7 world rings powers. But because he killed Shahrah instead, the sacrifice was only partially made. Someone was sacrificed, yes, but not the ring gatherer. This is why Both Sonic and Erazor are looking so messed up.
Like Sonic said,
“You’re just some *incomplete* monster”
