Skyrim being over 10 years old and having an organic spawning system of actual dragons in the open world to fight as almost mini bosses, really was ahead of its time. I don't think it gets enough credit. Most games will set up a big new enemy, and yet you only run into them a couple of times throughout the whole game.

The very fact that a game that came out 11 years ago is still being compared with rpgs of today is a testament to it's greatness.
Of course there's no doubt that the souls games are in a class of their own, bt Elder scrolls just hits different i.e, it jus works !

Despite the 10 years differences, Skyrim Dragons are meant to be random encounters throughout your adventures. Now Elden Ring Dragons are meant to be more of a cinematic fight, that's why they are always in the same spot and can't go far away from that location, otherwise they'll just immediately teleport back to their original spawn point

Well you gotta admit, Skyrim was one of the best at its time, but now, it can't hold a candle to current triple A games. The only thing keeping Skyrim alive and an amazing game to play is the modding community, with their god-tier mods.

It always felt epic when fighting dragons in Skyrim, at least in my experience. The randomness made things memorable, like when one spawned, landed near me and immediately died.

It's kinda funny how everyone is mentioning that Skyrim was made 10 years ago and that is the reason for defending the awful combat mechanics in that game. Even back in 2011, the fighting mechanics were god awful, just spamming left click until someone dies. I also kinda find it funny that many of the most popular mods for Skyrim is to make the combat more like Dark Souls or Sekiro. Just face it that the gameplay mechanics in the Elder Scrolls series is subpar, but that's not why people love the game so much. It delivers amazingly in world-building, music, quests and storytelling, and much more.
