This is the 2023 Hyundai Staria GLS+, not the top-of-the-line trim, but the mid-trim that's more practical than the Premium. Check it out on this Behind the Wheel review, as we unpack everything that this full size 11-seater van has to offer in the Philippine market.

This is exactly what I thought when the hyundai starex first came to the Philippines, it was unique in its aerodynamic shape in the 90s. Good to see hyundai still having that unique styling in this segment.

I found myself watching Caco’s car reviews for no reason at all. He’s good and feels so light to watch. BEST car reviewer I’ve ever watched.

Best review by far + best passenger van by far. Really hoping long-term maintenance would be closely as easy and cheap as the overrated Hiace, not that they're bad but this definitely isn't only a breathe of fresh air but also a class of its own tbh.

And yes, more Jack(tama ba spelling lol) exposure to come pls. Makes the overall review so much better with those interactions between Jack and Caco hehe.

A decent upgrade from the decent starex. I love how Hyundai's innovation of their car design. Hopefully they can also bring the new accent model here in PH.

Best car reviews in the Philippines, great job Caco. I like the Staria, I’m browsing for a MPV and I shortlisted it but I strongly believe Hyundai PH made the wrong choices with the trims they brought in. Same with Kia with the Carnival. I find the 7 seater mostly for executives, not practical for a family of 5 (3rd row always up and luggage dangerously place all over the cabin). Both Staria and Carnival have options with 3 seats in the middle row, the 8 seater Carnival with three individual seats is very practical for a family. For an 11 seater they already have the commuter, the Tourer version would have been the perfect fit between the Premium and the Commuter.

My mom fell in love with this variant when my fam went out looking for our next car :))) we had to go with the Stargazer X as it would fit our garage and needs better, but probably one day!

Great Van. The only issue I had was the erratic tire pressure monitoring system.

If you're sceptical about its reliability just know that this engine has been around since the second gen santa fe which you can find around second hand racking up miles in the odometer. Also just because the starex was used as a St Peter's favourite i don't see anyone saying the same shit with Cadillacs.

Hmmm maybe a plus to future car reviews the speaker system. Like a test or something. Some people like myself is very into the sound quality inside the cabin. Thanks guyss

I wish most manufacturers do this on top of the line SUVs (Fortuner, Terra, MUX etc) yung captain seats options, last na nakita ko eh sa CX8 top of the line lang

Which has a better riding comfort between the 2020 Starex vs 2023 Staria GLS+ ? (from the 1st row up to the last row). Thanks

Honestly when the Staria first leaked I never thought Hyundai would go the "softer" route since they have the Carnival already, not to mention the love-it-hate-it design, it actually grew on me already, then I realized it somehow resembles the first-generation bulbous Starex which I really loved, that thing was just too comfortable for terrible PH roads.

Still don't get the 3+3+2+3 layout though, I believe some markets have the usual 2+2+2+3 layout. I wonder if you can remove the second row and slide the captains forward or switch the 2nd and 3rd rows instead. Even better if you switch the front passenger and 2nd bench seat with additional 2 captain seats as well. for a 2+2+2+3 layout, somehow resembling the higher-end variants.

Also, I think there's a huge gap between the GLS+ and Premium, many Pinoys won't need AWD anyway so a cheaper FWD Premium could be a bestseller too.

Hi Caco, ive been a fan for years. Just a feedback for 7 seaters and up. As a family guy with 4 kids. I wanted to see how these types of cars look like when in full capacity.
There are some automobiles in these segments that tend to drop really low when in full capacity. The back drops and the front nose looks elevated which in some cases is a bit cumbersome pointing upwards.
Thanks and stay awesome!

Just noticed the DRL at the hood is not the same as the premium one.
