Wondered what the hole in the top side of the boom was for. It's for a rope or wire to guide the far end of the cylinder into the pinhole. After new hose(s) are in, I'm guessing the closer pin goes in first, then use hydraulic controls & a rope or wire to thread that far pin back in. Looks like a 2 man job

Thanks Rusty for showing how to get the cylinder out. I bought a nice '91 310c, 4wd, extend, this spring but that cylinder needs new seals. Dipper looks to be rebuilt but boom looks original. Seems overwhelming but you make it look fairly simple. Did your pins come out fairly easy and did you find a way to line up the pin in the boom? Did oil keep dripping while you got new hose made? Have you tried to rebuild any of the cylinders? I'm about to buy a 1" impact and give it a try. Getting a bit old but want to try. Not many vids on the 310c and there's a bunch out there. Thanks for your video.

Rusty thanks for the video of the cylinder removal. Did you ever post one of the cylinder installion after the hose replacement? I'm like you, I don't know of an easy method to get upper pin installed. I am facing the same thing on my JD 310A but I am 76 years old.
