I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but Siri popping up when you press the indicator cancel button is meant to happen; although I would have thought you'd be able to turn that function off in a menu somewhere, it's for older coms systems that can't evoke Siri by saying "Hey Siri" or by pressing the "Mic" or "Phone" button on the coms unit itself.

That's a first - of all the TMF videos I watch, my 3 year old just ran over and said "Daddy, they just called you kids", and had me replay the intro over and over 😁

I use Carpuride W7, it does most of what this does - at less than half the price! Has a small sun shade and fits to the BMW cradle with a mount. No drop outs, clear bright screen, no reflections.

It doesn’t work with the wheel, or have autobrightness, but I’m not fussed about that (since the touch screen).

Importantly, the Carpuride is easy to take on/off when you stop so won’t get pinched…

Looks like a bit of a game changer for BMW owners.
I’ve used Apple CarPlay on Honda bikes and had issues, used it in Ford cars and it’s been great.
If I had a BMW I’d buy this unit 👍🏼

I put one on my Triumph Rally Pro and am currently using it to tour through Europe. So far it has been great, clear screen, good connection and really useful to have all your apps etc in one place. For those that say about distraction being an issue well I use Siri for most things and that works great too. Really good bit of kit and I think Andy’s review nails it. Also, worth noting, I paid for mine so this an opinion from someone who invested in the kit.

Same GS as mine, love the analogue clocks over the tft and my satnav is mostly used for additional engine data over the map screen, just the best machine ever.

Another thing to consider with these uints is that they are not stand-alone Sat Navs. They get the maps and position from your phone. This means you need to have a data signal or the maps for where you are downloaded on your phone.

and if you don't have a BMW with the GPS cradle (the majority of riders) there's a swag of Chinese options becoming available at a fraction of the price (a good chance they are made in the same factories). I just installed a 5inch, front/rear cameras, TPMS Carplay/Amdroid Auto - for a fraction of the price. It was delivered for the equivalent of 102 euros. Quality seems great so far - and worth a gamble at that price.

Great to see that there's a good option if/when our 10 year old BMW Nav Vs fail. The only thing (in my opinion) is that the screen appears to be quite reflective. That may be OK in the UK but in countries where the sun actually shines could be a problem. I dare say that a matt screen protector would fix that problem. Well done!

I have a cheaper one with front and rear camera on my 1250gs. (I’ve bought it because of a broken iPhone camera. Even with a shock absorbing mounting system.) it’s in its 2nd year now. And I ride 40 clicks a year, all year and weather around. I’ve mounted it at the same spot where the original nav goes. I listen to radio, navigation, calls and teams meetings. The one I have has its own control unit mounted to the bar. I am very happy with it. The rear cam is great for parking in tight spots or as a split screen during heavy traffic.

I got one in April and now a second unit for my other bike. Quality is gr8 apple like packaging and build. Technology is there to use and not abuse embrace or turn off abs, traction control, fuel injection, satnav throw phones away . I will be selling my Ducati oem TPMS at £300 and not transferable. So this is actually good value - there are cheaper but chigee supports update and the BSD with rear camera switching is a huge safety feature.
