An Astonishing Ancient Structure In Hampi

The Queens Bath was constructed by the Vijayanagara King Achyuta Raya for the women of the royal family. This is built in the Indo- Saracenic style of architecture.

It is an elaborate rectangular structure with a simple exterior. Outside there is a big water channel encircling the building

Inside The whole building is made with a veranda sorrounding a big rectangular open colossal bath at the middle.

At one end of the veranda you can see a flight of step giving access to the pool.The depth of the pool is ,six feet and This brick lined pool is now empty.The whole pool is open to the sky.

Here we can see ornate balconies each with a set of three windows.The balconies are decorated with tiny windows and supported by lotus bud tipped brackets.

The domical roof of veranda is a spectacle in itself. The bath is surrounded by beautiful arched corridors having pillars decorated with intricate carved stucco ornamentation

Each dome throughout the veranda are designed in unique style .Projecting into the pond are many balconies.

There is an inlet water channel to the east that runs all around the structure which ensures a constant supply of fresh water.The domical roof of veranda is a spectacle by itself.

This is a stunning example of architectural style hailing from the Vijayanagara Empire
