We have a seafarer who is going to be working onboard a vessel in Spain and we are trying to establish which type of visa to apply for.



For clarity – he will be flying from the UK and joining and departing the vessel via the mainland in Spain. This will be done either be port-call or by helicopter. The vessel itself will be working outside the 12 mile zone.



Our employee is a Nigerian national but has the right to live and work in the UK.

Can you advise if he will need to apply for a Schengen Transit visa for Seafarers or if he will be allowed to enter under the 90/180 ruling.



We are struggling to get a clear answer.
