Five years of couples counseling left me with one indelible conclusion.Compromise is NEVER THE SOLUTION. You MUST negotiate. The stronger personality always gets their way. Particularly when they are a bully and/or liar. Give in and nine out of ten times it also will be the same the next time, and the next time. And trump has already proven to be an unmitigated liar, or just too flaky for words to describe. I have a very low opinion of the smarmy Mitch McConnell, but can't really blame him for digging in his heels like he has. trump is wishy-washy and throws everyone under the bus. But I am inordinately proud of Madame Speaker Pelosi, who has been straightforward and resolute in her stance. Mitch AND Nancy have tried in good faith and been spat upon. The first conciliatory gestures need to come from trump, as the responsibility and the blame for this ongoing nightmare lie squarely at his feet. Compromise over and over leaves one party never feeling like a winner in any way. Eventually, they turn into such a seething mass of resentment that things become the unresolvable nightmare that this shutdown has become. Just man up already, trump. YOU have caused this, trump. JUST STOP.

Collins voted for adding trillions to the debt in tax cut's and spending money on a military expansion neither paid for and we keep adding more and more debt targeted at Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and civil service pensions but they just keep voting for tax cuts for the 1%.
