I can't believe you have to tell people that a large SUV with a V6 engine doesn't get great gas mileage. You'd better also warn them that it'll get wet whenever it rains.

Any 4Runner owner knows it's all about Smiles Per Gallon!

this past april, i bought a 2004 v8 4runner sport for $6500 with 180k miles on it. had a mechanic check it out & spent $1500 doing full repairs that it needed - fluid changes, all 3 differentials oil changed, timing belt, new cv joints, & a couple of other things. it's the most beautiful vehicle i've ever been in, much less owned. leather seats, great sound system. engine is whisper quiet. about 300hp & torque. gets 13mpg city & 22 highway, which is pretty lame, but can haul 8000 lbs, has a transmission fluid cooler. i've
already put 15k miles on it in the last 8 months and the thing just eats up miles and is a pleasure to drive. i do a lot of remote camping as well, and knowing i can go pretty much anywhere no matter the conditions is a huge relief. it's running better than most new cars my friends and family have. so many cool quirky features & i love having a solid rear axle & independent front suspension. everyone has different needs, but the 4runner fits mine PERFECTLY. 😍

Poor gas mileage is the trade off for reliability. 240k miles in my 1997 Runner and she’s not slowing down anytime soon.

Bad gas mileage is the price to pay for reliability.

I have owned a 2008 Toyota 4Runner for 11 years and been very happy with the mpg because I only drive 5K a year retired). It has been the best vehicle I have ever owned (reliability, comfort and style wise).

My mom sold one of her 4Runners at *200, 000 miles-* and it was *still as good* as the day it *rolled off of the lot.*

The 4Runner was forged by the hand of God!

Additionally, my buddy just texted me from Arizona he is stuck out in BFE with his new Jeep JL. The front axle bracket snapped on a mild trail. The local tow operator only takes cash and he is waiting for his wife to send him money.

All a 4Runner owner needs are money for food and gas, he will never have to worry about having to be taken off the trail by a very expensive 4x4 wrecker!

4runner is one of the only actual SUV's we have left on the road, I'm talking a truck on frame body, not a unibody like all crossovers. Over 30 years and going strong 4runner is a real OG, it was the pathfinder for a while but it went unibody back in 2013.

Go to a Junk yard and a photo of a Chevy dealership pops up 🤣🤣🤣

Chevy engine destroyed under 150k miles lmao. Trash. Honda and Toyota are barely broken in at 150k

I had a new 2005 4Runner V6 SR5 that I leased for three years. Yep, it ate as much gas as a V8 was way over built, was of great quality and was very powerful. My brother now has a 2016 4Runner and loves to drive "Tank" on snowy roads.

I own a 98, a 2018 and a 2022 TRD Off Road and just picked up a Land Cruiser 95 triple locker … all run well, make me happy, and it’s nice to hear young dudes, and dudettes, say nice things about them from time to time

"Go to a junkyard"... Shows a Chevy dealer. Hahahaha!

The 4Runner definitely makes up for the lower mpg. Love my 2011 SR5. Awesome off-road even without the locker.

My 1999 Toyota 4Runner (3rd Gen) with 239, 000 miles is the favorite vehicle I have ever owned. 20 MPG combined isn't too bad for my commute to work. If I have to commute further i'll get a motorcycle or a prius. Having 4WD is extremely helpful, I go camping often and I sleep in the back. I can tow up to 5, 000 pounds, and it has Toyotas 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE) Engine, arguably the most reliable engine toyota has ever made. In term of mileage/distance my 4Runner has officially made it to the moon, now it's time to bring her back! Still runs like new. 3rd Gen is the best Gen!
