Anyone worrying about if the 1.5 engine is big enough...

I've driven the 1.5 MHEV in the 2024 version, the electric motor makes it one of the most dynamic and adaptable engines going so I'd recommend a newer one which gets a boost from the motor unlike this version.

HOWEVER, your average 1ltr to 1.6ltr engine is designed to be used in urban driving where speeds and acceleration aren't demanding, they're refined engines for comfortable city driving.

The 2ltr petrol will give you the diversity of being more appropriate for motorway drives albeit more thirsty.

If you're towing or regularly have a packed full car of luggage etc then you should be getting diesels for the pulling power. That being said, the diesel will be best for regular LONG LONG drives.

Personally I went for the 1.5 MHEV but I only do 8000 a year, my average journey being less than 20 miles.
