It would have made much more sense narratively to have the Hulk Calm down after reaching his highest potential. As beforehand the Sentry (The guy he was fighting beforehand) thanked Bruce for finally beating him after he became cocky knowing that he is the only hero that could defeat him. The theme of the story is what makes a “monster” mostly being pressure. So it would make more sense for Hulk to take in Sentry’s words and actions and realize the tragedy of power at the last second of redemption instead of chalking it up to lasers to defeat him

It wasn't JUST a bunch of lasers that took out World Breaker Hulk.

Hulk had been in a knock down, drag out fight with The Sentry, who in this case was second only to WB Hulk in power. The two punched each other full blast in the face until both reverted to their powerless forms.

The Hulk didn't get the Old Power, his son Skarr did. The radiation from the bomb blast amped up the Hulk's base level strength. The rest of it was his rage. The satellites that Stark used didn't use lasers, they drained the gamma from the Hulk and mostly because he let it happen because he was losing control.

Bit of a nitpick but “Worldbreaker Hulk” is not the result of Hulk acquiring the power of the Oldstrong (its correct name), it is actually the result of Hulk and Banners rage reaching such a tipping point that Banner relinquishes what control he has over Hulk’s power and lets it run wild.

The Oldstrong power is unique to Sakaar and the order of Shadowpriests such as Hiroim. It essentially turns the users skin to solid stone and enables them to tap into the tectonic and kinetic energy of the entire planet. You can use said energy to move whole continents, rip the life from the very planet/reignite their core, or even bring the dead back to life.
