CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After Kate (Moira Kelly) sees Doug (D.B. Sweeney) with another woman, she goes into a fit about her missing "lucky" earring. Her fianc (Dwier Brown) soon realizes that her antagonism has nothing to do with the earring and everything to do with Doug.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Can a rough and tumble hockey player and a snooty ice dancer find love and a gold medal at the same time? That's the burning (or more appropriately freezing) question in this romantic drama. Kate Moseley (Moira Kelly) is a world-class figure skater training for the Olympics; she has genuine talent, but years of being spoiled by her wealthy family have made her all but impossible to work with. Doug Dorsey (D.B. Sweeney) is a hockey player with drive, skill, and a full complement of arrogance; his team is also on the fast track to the Olympics. Unfortunately, an eye injury suffered during a game affects Doug's peripheral vision enough to put him on the bench for the rest of the season. At the same time, Kate's colossal ego scares off yet another skating partner, and her coach, Anton (Roy Dotrice), needs to find a replacement as soon as possible. Desperate to stay in Olympic competition, Doug agrees to try working as Kate's partner, even though he has a hockey player's macho contempt for figure skating. Needless to say, the first few practices between Kate and Doug do not go well, but in time they learn to work together and become a pair to be reckoned with both on and off the ice. The Cutting Edge was released within a few months of the 1992 Winter Olympic Games.

Poor Hale, I liked him. He handled Kate as best he could and doesn’t even try to deny the chemistry between her and Doug because it’s obvious to everyone, lol. Those stubborn fools 💕

I see Kevin Costner's father :) Always liked his portrayal of the elder Kinsella in Field of Dreams.

I'm deeply enlightened by this material. A book on these topics catalyzed a major transformation in my perspective. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint

today Kate & Doug would have been ancient history done honestly Kate would be crawling back for Hale, bet. Hale's boring but steady while Doug makes her life exciting. I'm studying business but it hasn't yet made me so stiff so I think their story is Hale, being the assistant CEO, I'm guessing his job, just through interacting on those long nights of dealmaking one or the other brought up dating Kate and eventually Kate just went along with it. Makes you think how complicated it is when you find the one. Hale may be up to his neck in wealth, knows everything about yachts and opera, but no wild side, almost that it's being defeated in life in a way and dealing stocks and bonds has become his only outlet and the lifestyle of the golf and museums, etc just comes along with that but no real life. But when young women get it out of their system they realize they always wanted the Hale types just because he's not a bum.
