Botswana's Letsile Tebogo made history in the men's 200m final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, clinching the gold medal and denying USA's Noah Lyles the chance to secure a historic sprint double. In a race that shocked the athletics world, Tebogo not only won the event but also became the first person ever to win an Olympic gold medal for Botswana. Despite Lyles’ strong start, Tebogo's incredible finish left no doubt about who the fastest man on the track was that day.

Heading into the 200m final, all eyes were on Noah Lyles. The American sprinter had already claimed gold in the 100m, edging out Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson by just five-thousandths of a second in what was the closest 100m final in Olympic history. Lyles, aiming to become the first man since Usain Bolt to win both the 100m and 200m at the same Olympics, was confident. He even predicted his victory, dismissing his competitors with bravado. But one man, Letsile Tebogo, had other plans.
Tebogo had already sent a warning in the semi-finals, where he defeated Lyles, finishing in 19.96 seconds. Lyles, usually dominant in the 200m, was caught off guard and finished with a slower time of 20.08 seconds. The semi-final result hinted at what was to come—a fierce showdown between the world’s best sprinters.

Well, the competition is on!
Noah Lyles now has Letselie Tobago 🇹🇹 to contend with on a continual basis: Tobago was ready for Noah Lyles; not sure if Noah Lyles was ready for Letselie Tobago;
The challenge now for Letselie Tobago is to remain consistent, and for Noah Lyles to go back to the basis, and stop living on Hype so much;

This was Tebogo's gold medal. Whether or not Lyles had COVID, Its not that easy to just drop 19.50 or faster in the 200m. Usain Bolt did it 4 times (19.19, 19.30, 19.32, and 19.40). Yohan Blake did it two times (19.26 and 19.44). Michael Johnson did it once, 19.32. Noah Lyles has done it 4 times (19.31, 19.46, 19.47, and 19.50. Letsilie Tebogo has done it twice (19.46 and 19.50). Erriyon Knighton has only done it once (19.49). These are facts, not fantasies. Lyles and Bolt are tied with 5 times each from 19.51-19.59 ( Lyles: 19.52, 19.52, 19.52, 19.53, & 19.56 vs. Bolt: 19.56, 19.56, 19.57, 19.58, & 19.59). Could Lyles have won is just theroy. He lost, and thats a fact. Just looking at the best times in history, he may never go under 19.50 again, but who knows, maybe he will be the first to do it. Or maybe Tebogo will be the first, to run under 19.50 five times. But that is just speculation too. The only runner I would bet on to break the world record is Sydney Mclaughlin. Why, she keeps breaking her own world records, and is cleary dominant in the 400m hurdles. Instead of this media fascination with Lyles, look at Mclauglin, she just does the job, she is not talking or making excuses, she is winning, and at an outlandish clip. Trying to win the sprint double is crazy. Only 11 men have done it. Only 3 since 1972: Valeriy Borzov 1972, Carl Lewis 1984, and Usain Bolt 2008-2012-2016. Bolt set the WR of 19.30 at the 2008 Olympics in the 200m, then ran the current WR of 19.19 exactly 1 year later. Lyles antics are irritating, trying for 4 gold medals like Carl Lewis. Lewis was exceptional, 100m, 200m, long jump, and 4 x 100m relay. Lewis was not crying to be on the 4 x 400m relay like Lyles. Lewis earned his spots. Lyles talking about bumping Quincy Hall off the relay, was out of line. He can’t beat Quincy Hall or Quincy Wilson in the 400m. Tebogo is the truth!!!!

Greaat, great result for Tebogo, except winning the Gold against Lyles in the Olympics final does not make him the new King of the 200. Now he will have to consistently beat Lyles to prove he is the new King of the 200m race.

It's true, we can clearly see on the video that he is going more and more slowly in the straight line, betraying asphyxia.
