As the US-China trade war wore on, a new round of tariffs from both countries kicked off. On Sept 1, the US began imposing 15 per cent tariffs on a portion of US$300 billion worth of Chinese goods. At the same time, China's first batch of retaliatory tariffs of either 10 or 5 per cent also went into effect.

Sounds good but unfortunately tariffs does not work. American consumers, farmers and manufacturers are the ones that end up as the loser.

Why don't we just cut the tie and stop all deals with the chinese? We should be able to do that

China should not put any tariffs on American agricultural products and marine produce to help hard working American farmers etc. It should be for a few years.

US will lose because Americans are heavy consumers and heavy on debt. This is a last ditch effort to prevent the inevitable - the rise of China. Trump is ignoring all the failures of the US and is just blaming China for its woes. US is a failed democracy. The institutions are failing - law & order, schools, justice dept, media, .. etc. No one knows what is truth and falsehood any more. They are more preoccupied with when a child should determine her sex, eg age 4? It has decayed morals and is a very violent country. US should look at how to fix itself first before blaming others for their failures.

Every tarriff has increased demand that amerucan companys are filling .this has raised the value of the dollar and unemployment rate.
Its onvious that its no such thing as fair trade. Its more like wealthy investirs and a few corperations make good while the average american loses out on jobs and income.
no way we save more buying cheap than when we are producing it and buying it from ourselves.
id be glad if this trade war doesnt stop. i think we would simply look else where in the workd and honestly im ready to.
