what is that jig for what does it actually do

No actually a USB JIG and JTAG are two totally different things. JTAG is the process of connecting your motherboard (more or less) to a JTAG which is connected to the computer.. its used to rewrite your system in the event of a hard brick. Completely different from a USB JIG.
