This has to be the craziest place I have ever stayed! I stay on a real 747 jumbo jet that's been turned into a hotel! I'm captain of my own plane for the night, Let's explore the plane and my ensuite cockpit room! (This is NOT sponsored by Jumbo Hotel)

Fascinating, but feels a bit creepy without any other people there, including any kind of staff, especially security. Not sure I’d sleep well.

This is definitely one that’s on my bucket list as a massive aviation nerd. I’d almost like to see more planes transformed like this into something useful. All too often aircraft like this end up as scrap metal and landfill but this kind of proves that they can be given new life.

I stayed here in the number 2 engine in 2019 during a snowstorm and a word of warning to anyone who has motion sickness as the wind still moves the wing slightly and you can feel it if you stay in an engine room. It was very warm and cosy though and felt like being in a caravan but I had to brave the snow storm in the middle of the night to go inside for the loo...

Can you imagine the architectural work that had to go into that transformation from plane to hotel? 🤯

Me and my wife eloped in Stockholm, we saw this place and thought we would give it a try before we checked into our main accomodation as I'm really into aircraft. We stayed in a basic cabin but absolutely loved it.

I stayed in this cockpit room one night before flying out of Sweden, about 6 years ago, with my daughter. It was my daughters dream, who was around 9-10 at the time. Making her dream come true, was so special to me. It was a very fun experience. The outside of the plane looked better at the time I think. And there were a lot of guests, and also people who worked there, and someone behind the check in desk. Not sure if things have changed, or if it’s just because of that Tim went during winter time. But if it’s something your kids loves to experience, it is for sure worth it. Or it was to us. My daughter (or me) will never forget. ❤️

Quick history from their website: “The airplane, a decommissioned model 747-200 jumbo jet built in 1976, was last operated by Transjet, a Swedish airline that went bankrupt in 2002. It was originally built for Singapore Airlines and later served with legendary Pan Am.”

Brilliant use of an old 747. There ought to be similar things at Heathrow and Gatwick!

This is AWESOME! Being there all alone is kind of creepy though. That wingspan is crazy!

I'm a Stockholmer, but had never heard of this place. I'm a hotel(/hostel) nerd myself and would love to stay in that cockpit suite. What a dream 😊

My favourite moment in a 747 Jumbo: In summer 1980, as a teenager flying from London to Vancouver with Wardair Canada, myself and my two friends were allowed briefly into the cockpit while the plane was en route. I'll never forget it. I guess security was a little more relaxed 43 years ago!

10:40 Imagine you got locked out completely and there was no stairs down and back around 😅

Glad this exists. The Queen of the skies can now forever be hospitable to people on the ground!

This video brings back so many wonderful memories. I was a flight attendant and started flying the 747-200 in 1980. My all-time favourite aircraft.

I stayed in 2 different rooms in the back of the plane :)
I love it 🥰

It's refreshing to see you so excited about every little detail on this plane. As opposed to the typical moaning about scuff marks and dry scrambled eggs.

This brings back SO many memories. Thank you for posting this. Grew up on 47’s and flew last in 1980 from HNL to SGO on UAL. 47’s were and, to me, still are the Queen’s of the skies.
Where your sleeping accommodations area was the actual lounge for First Class.
Pan Am and UAL had a piano on this deck for specific flights.
UA cooked a full rib eye roast with all the fixings. Served on a table cloth, china, true silverware, crystal for your beverages.
Dessert might be a cart with four different ice creams all the toppings you might want with wafer or other special cookies.
Occasionally, freshly back chocolate chip cookies. And so much more.
Yup I was spoiled.

What an absolutely amazing experience. I was not aware that such a hotel existed - why would I?! I thought that the former prison was an amazing hotel (which it is) but I think for originality the jumbo now takes top place above the prison. If you can find more 'quirky' hotels in which to stay they will rank alongside the best/worst as a collection.
