Repairing and plasterboarding 160yr old crumbly arched window

This I guess is part two of the lining out the hallway/stairs in the house. starting with repairing the loose stones and bricks under the arched window. Then lining out the window, including the compound curve of the arch which was fun! then I also included making up the false arch under the steel beam at the bottom of the stairs.

Just having this wall finished, even to this level has made a massive difference, it is much warmer and less dusty, and there was a huge draught coming through the hole where those pipes go down into the kitchen.

❤An example of someone who does everything to the best of his ability... What moves me is that he's building it for his wife and children. I wish them a truly happy future in it.

I’m a plasterer and I see all levels of plasterboarding. There is nothing I like better than skimming over the work a good joiner has done.

I love your channel, and i also love that over the last ten years content makers have almost all gone down the same route of product placement, sponsorship, patreon, bullshit adverts for all sorts of unrelated guff and here we are in 2022 and you are at the top of your game and doing it your own way with no voice over, no music and im hooked! i love it. I dont know how you monetize it, or of you will but it feels like retro video making and im glad of it. thanks.

The old saying is Jack of all trades master of none, but you seem to master all the different aspects of everything you tackle and make such a good job of it all. It is going to be so satisfying when you have a beautiful home and it's all your own work. I'm sure your wife and girls are so proud of you

Recommendation- eye and nasal protection. Over time, your eyes will receive countless micro scratches and will eventually leave you with a 'sensitivity' to wood and other types of dust. What will happen is that it will take longer and longer for you to get over new scrathes to your eyes, once dust settles in. I am talking after 20 years of doing what you do. I am in my 43rd year and even 10 minutes in my shop w/o eye protection will have my eyes burning for a few days. Always use those cheapo clear plastic units or full 3m mask and a fan if possible. Learn how to use a Neti pot after work to protect your sinus passages. I cannot stess this enough for anyone who does what you do to be proactive in protecting eyes and nostrum. Also get a good eye cup and use filtered water to cleanse eyes as well.

I do hope you will do a before & after when you have this all finished. Your daughter is gorgeous and now the house will really mean something to her because she helped you in restoring it. Well done.

I'm genuinely fascinated watching your videos. The dedication, workmanship and humour make these a must watch for me. And it'll be nice for the little one to know she had a small hand in redoing part of that window little helper!

I cannot find a good enough superlative to describe my awe at this man's skills and precision. Not only that. It is his blissful and relaxed matter of fact approach that makes his videos so genuine and contrasting from this "IN YOUR FACE" world of YouTube. Rinse and repeat. :)

Pleasing to see someone at least knows how to make it better than it was. I think the original builders of your wall and arch must have had an extended pub lunch!
