I love how the thing that pissed him off the most wasn't that he just got shot with a grenade, but the fact that this dude brought his own son into his shit. Really shows what kind of guy Aquaman is at heart.

I really love this scene, because Momoa's line: "Dad? That's your kid? Shame on you." It hits hard because you know how good of a relationship Aquaman has with his own father and how good of a single father he was. It's like seeing somebody you can't help because he's under the thumb of someone who brought him down an entirely wrong path. Aquaman can only really feel bad for the Black Manta because in just a short moment you can figure out a pretty good picture of how everything went wrong for him. But what Aquaman doesn't know is that Black Manta's own father raised him the exact same way, he's still very in the wrong for continuing the cycle, but it's more complicated this way. It's a real issue in our world that kids turn into the adults you nurture them to be, and not everybody is lucky enough to be raised right with a good moral compass.

Aquaman did show mercy. He pulled the spear out of Dad and left Manta unharmed to help him. Dad then continued to open fire which only resulted in more danger for his son, and his inability to escape

I will admit it, Manta does care for his dad even though they were villains, they were still family before his father died. That hits deep.

I love how Manta comes in all "we were destined to be enemies, and I will defeat you" while Arthur is still not sure who the heck this sea pirate is.

Crazy how these guys were killing innocent people and terrorizing and they were begging for Mercy from Aquaman who is the last person to give any kind of care or mercy to an enemy

He actually did show mercy. The son tried to kill him, he just got beaten, and Aquaman was going to walk away. The father comes in, REALLY tries to kill him, Aquaman hurts him pretty bad, but also doesn't kill him, and he tries to leave once again.

The fact that they either let Jason, or willingly added a Polynesian aspect to this iteration of Aquaman just kinda makes him all the more special.
