I gotta say her chops and dedication to learning the guitar showed in the flick. Very well done.

I went into the film not expecting much but both her and Chalamet blew me away. Both did more than justice to Joan and Bob!

Maybe this is sacrilige but she was the standout of the film, we know Timothee is a great actor, but she was a revalation, brought a lot of depth and nuance to the character even if we didn’t get to spend that much time with her, Monica was just so transparent with the emotional journey that Baez was going on, you could read so much into her face, and giving it real subtlety as to how she looked at Dylan and the chemistry they had.

I really like Monica Barbaro. She seems like a cool person to hang out with and her role as Joan Baez taught her a lot about guitars, which makes me respect her more. Plus, she’s drop dead gorgeous 😍

Monica should have won the Oscar. She had to learn an instrument, demonstrate vocal ability to do justice to a respected musician, Joan Baez, and Monica had to act. None of the other Oscar nominees for Best Actress this year had to do all three.

Love this kid. I am so impressed with her and Tim for their work ethic. They both present as being so committed to their craft that one has to be impressed. I come from a family of musicians. I grew up with The Beatles more than Dylan, but in my adult years, I have explored more deeply from my elder peer musicians. But I have always adored Dylan's impactful tunes. They live on through the generations. I remember the first time I saw Bruce Springsteen live when I was a mere 21 years old. What did he pull out for his first encore? Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone. And as a kid of the '60s, it really hit me hard. Although he was in the height of his zeitgeist in the '80s with his Born in the USA Tour, he reached back to pay homage to Dylan. With his Nebraska release, Bruce even reached deeper.

Dear listeners, I am steeped in my earliest childhood in Jazz, Classical, World Music, Brasilian Jazz that my father covered, American Soul that my mum listened to, and mainly The Beatles because my twin brother and I were minted in 1963. We were children of our era. It took me a little while to get around to connecting the dots to the deeper connections of the other genres that Afro-Americans created, that were co-opted by White Americans. I speak of American Country music. Only deep study taught me that the Anglo Americans learned it mainly from Afro Americans and not as much from my Celtic and English ancestors. There were obvi influences from Irish, Scottish, and Old English tunes, but it was the American Afro American injection that has gotten buried in American Musical History.

As the grandson of Afro-Caribbean Scottish Jamaican slave heritage (maternal), it is a point of pride that American Country music comes predominantly from African American influences.

Here is the funniest part of the joke. As a deep fan of music and a professional musician who is a deep fan of The Beatles, which led me to become a deep fan of The Beatles v. 2.0 (Elvis Costello), it was Elvis Costello who reminded me that American Country Music was more than just the soundtrack of Jim Crow lynchings. In the '60s and '70s, I grew up with a lot Country Music that I had dismissed. But in my 40s, I began to connected the dots, especially while listening to Elvis Costello openly and deeply expressing his love for the American Country Music sound. I remembered that I loved Danny O'Keefe, Glen Campbell, Patsy Cline, and Johnny Cash growing up, and hearing them on the radio. Good luck with that these days, kids.

With Elvis Costello's influence, I fell in love with George Jones and Hank Williams. I also know that most of modern Bro Country redneck is absolute shite. Chris Stapleton is for real, most all others are just absolute shite.

That is just about all I have to say about it. Forgive the poor grammar above. I am too tire to edit, but wanted to get my thoughts out of me head.

TL;DR: Go stream the Dylan film 'A Complete Unknown' on Hulu.
Recommended.

Nothing more attractive than a woman who plays guitar. We’ll meet one day and we’ll jam together and I can hear her sing with that angelic voice. Law of attraction
